PENSION REFORM ACT 2014: the validity of its application.

The signing into law of the new Pension Reforms Act is a welcome development. Among other provisions, the Act is made applicable to employees in the public services of the states, some of which had established contributory pension schemes by virtue of state laws substantially similar to the repealed Pension Act.

Marrakesh Treaty: A Needed Rectification

According to the World Health Organization, there are some 285 million blind and visually impaired persons in the
world, 90 per cent of whom live in developing countries. A WIPO survey in 2006 found that fewer than 60 countries
have limitations and exceptions clauses in their copyright laws that make special provision for visually impaired
persons, for example, for Braille, large print or digitized audio versions of copyrighted texts.

Photography and the intricacies therein falls within the ambit of Intellectual Property  (IP). In this regard, IP laws govern, inter-alia, issues of Ownership of Copyright on one hand, and on the other hand, Right to Privacy and Right Publicity (which flows from the commercial use of the said photograph)

There is no gain saying that the Internet has, and is still, benefiting mankind through digital evolution. The world has become smaller and digitally obsessed. Economically, some analysts are of the view that the Internet has rich economic opportunities if properly utilized. On the other hand is the view that though the internet has been a tool for social engineering, it has created a form of economic monopoly in the digital market.
