In commemoration of the International Reggae Day

In commemoration of the International Reggae Day, do you know that -
  • Reggae music is a core part of Jamaica’s creative industries which contribute 4.8 percent of GDP.
  • Music is one of country’s most valuable assets.
  • Since the 1960s Jamaica’s remarkably innovative and resilient creative entrepreneurs have independently added to the country’s export value.

Similarly, a more effective Intellectual Property Law Enforcement would increase the GDP of Nigeria. The creative Industries must be protected. the National Copyrights Commission and other related Agencies must realize that the failure of Creative Industries is the failure of the country at large. Exempi gratia, NOLLYWOOD, which ranks top three in the world, has been struggling as a result of piracy even under the nose of National Copyrights Commission.

National Copyrights Commission and other related Agencies should come up with schemes/programs like that of NAFDAC (in combating fake drugs). This in turn would bring quality in creativity and its invariably quota to the GDP of the country.
